ISBNPA 2017 is delighted to offer opportunities to participate in daily physical activities to discover the Victoria area. Read below for more details.

 

            

 

 

 

Stay Active!

 

Walk the Talk (or stretch or run or …)

 

June 8th, 9th & 10th Morning physical activities (7:00-7:45 a.m.) led by local enthusiastic leaders, choose from 3 options:

 

1.      Not just a walk in the park:

 

Power through local Beacon Hill park trails or along downtown harbour paths for an active start to the day.

 

2.      Gotta run:

Discover the local running routes along Victoria’s coast at two pace levels – plodding and peppy.

Walkers and runners rendezvous in the  Victoria Conference Centre lobby by 7:00 a.m. Sign up at the ISBNPA Registration Desk.

3.      Strike a Pose with Lululemon:

Get your day flowing with yoga led by Lululemon instructors.  Mats provided. 35 person maximum. Please register in advance. Yoga will be held in the foyer area of Salon B.

 

Thursday June 8th 6:45 p.m. Sweat Equity Charity Event sponsored by Frontrunners and Lululemon

Join ISBNPA delegates as we exercise our passion and take steps to help those less fortunate in a 2.5K walk or 6K fun run to benefit Victoria’s ‘Runners for Compassion’ and ‘Shoes for Youth’ charities. By $10 donation and/or used but clean running/walking shoes. Rendezvous in the Empress Hotel Rose Garden.

                                                      

 

At 7:30 p.m. everyone is welcome to join Lululemon for yoga in the Rose Garden. If weather conditions require us to move indoors, this will be held in Salon B foyer. By $10 donation and/or used but clean exercise shoes.

Most Actively Engaged Award

The ISBNPA “most actively engaged” award is back after a successful launch in 2016. At the 2017 Annual Meeting, a panel of judges will rate the photos of delegates being actively involved with everything on offer at the conference. Last year’s winner was doing squats and stretches in front of the posters!

 

Walking in Victoria

Running in Victoria

In Victoria, June is an ideal month to get outside and enjoy a variety of physical activities catering to every ability and interest, including world-class running and walking routes steps from downtown. Below are two of the most popular running trails in Victoria, starting directly from our Conference Host Hotels (Fairmont and Double Tree).

 

        Route 1: Downtown Victoria, 6.4 km                                   Route 2: South Victoria, 9.2 km

Biking in Victoria

Known as the cycling capital of Canada, Victoria offers hundreds of kilometers of bike paths, bike lanes and bike routes in the city. The Lochside and Galloping Goose Trails connect the entire region from Sidney to Sooke. Mountain biking trails at Mount Work Regional Park and a BMX track located in the nearby community of Colwood make for fantastic jumps and excursions off the paved path.
